Why do I need to track the entire checkout process?

In the competitive world of e-commerce, success goes beyond having a great product or a visually appealing website.

It’s about understanding your customers’ journey and making data-driven decisions. This is where measuring every step of the checkout process becomes crucial.

By meticulously tracking each stage, from when a customer views a product and adds it to their cart to the final purchase, you gain valuable insights into their behavior and pain points.

Are there friction points causing cart abandonment?
Is the checkout process optimized for seamless transactions?

With detailed metrics at your fingertips, you can identify bottlenecks, optimize your sales funnel, and boost conversion rates.

Don’t leave your revenue to chance. Measure every step of the checkout process and unlock the potential for higher sales and customer satisfaction.

Tracking your e-commerce checkout steps, and optimize

By tracking fundamental e-commerce checkout steps, you’ll be able to set up multiple customized e-commerce reports in Google Analytics 4, and optimize your user journey to increase conversions.

But my plugins already do all of that...

True! There are plugins, that can send ecommerce events to Google Analytics 4, or Facebook.

But If you really want to efficiently track your online sales, when your tracking need goes beyond basic funnel tracking, Google Tag Manager is the way to go.

Here’s why:

So, long story short…

If you want to implement all tracking codes, like a true analytics ninja, then this is definitely the right way!

Still have some questions?

Sure! I completely understand.

I too don’t buy anything without consideration and making sure the product is really for me.

In this case, here are some common questions and answers that will help you with your decision.

Does your template only work on WooCommerce

A: Right now I can only guarantee it will work on WooCommerce because I’m sure the way I set it up uses the suitable structured data layer (structure for Google Analytics 4). If you’re sure your online store has the data layer required for Google Analytics 4, it will work too, even If it’s not on WooCommerce.

Will you make a template for other e-commerce platforms?

A: Yes! Right now I’m working on Shopify and Magento. But with enough interest, I’ll look into other options as well. If you purchase the template now, and let me know via email (gasper@measureyourweb.com), that you have purchased it for either Shopify or Magento, I’ll make sure you’ll be one of the first to get the modified version of the template. Planned release June 25.

I have plugins installed for e-commerce events. What should I do?

A: I Recommend deleting all other plugins except the Google Tag Manager plugin. The reason for this is to avoid duplicate events firing. There’s no need for any PRO plugin. Google Tag Manager is FREE and all tracking codes are under your own control.

What if I'm using Facebook for WooCommerce plugin to synchronize products with Facebook catalog.

A: You have two options, and I recommend the first one:

  1. Delete the plugin. In my step-by-step instructions, I also show you 2 different ways to synchronize products to the Facebook catalog (recommended by FB for dynamic catalog ads).
  2. Delete the FB tags inside Google Tag Manager after you import the template.

I want to use the template on my client's website
